WHY I STARTED AN IRONING BUSINESS?
Late 2019 we found ourselves in a pickle and we needed the money. I had applied for 32 local jobs and had not received even a single interview. So mum survival mode kicked in and
STEAM•THE IRONING ROOM was created.
In the beginning I didn't know where this little venture would lead or if I would even like ironing for other people, I just knew I was good at ironing and the bank account was getting low.
THE FACE BEHIND THE IRONING BOARD

By mid year 2020 I was in love with my little business and the wonderful community we were creating. The amazing people I met over the first few months showed me that I was on the right path, I was onto something special. Not only were clients no longer having to worry about fitting a basket of ironing into their busy weekly schedule, we were creating a connected community of mainly women, but some men as well, a community where we can check in with each other, support each other and have a chat during our weekly ironing drop off and pick up.
Since starting STEAM•THE IRONING ROOM I have held babies while mum rushes around to do a couple of last minute things, played with puppies, helped keep a families ironing basket empty around hospital night shifts, collected the mail, ironed school uniforms for a mum with a broken leg, chatted with a teacher's students while delivering her ironing to her classroom and been entrusted with house keys so I can drop off and pick up ironing as needed.

But above all of this we have talked, talked as mum's, wives, friends, sounding boards and sources of ideas, inspiration and support. Mum's connecting as only mum's can, supporting, listening, cheering, venting and sharing. These women and mum's, my clients, have helped fill my cup each week, and I dearly hope I have done a little of the same for them. Be it a smile, a baby cuddle, kind word, puppy pats, a hug or a simple thank you these women have helped me create a community which makes my heart sing.
As STEAM•THE IRONING ROOM continues to grow and we explore new ideas and possibilities of how we can further help our community not only juggle their weekly ironing but support each other and their families it makes me realise that communities are built around lots of different things.
The core of a community might be a sporting team, school, having kids the same age, having similar interests, but this little community we are creating is built around an ironing basket and the idea of
“MAKE LIFE EASIER • REMOVE THE WRINKLES".
The warm fuzzy feeling you get when you help someone, make someone else’s life easier and really connect with genuine kind hearted people is what STEAM•THE IRONING ROOM is all about.
I am so grateful for this little business and the many wonderful people I have met so far on this journey.

HOW CAN WE HELP?
IT MAKES MY HEART HAPPY WHEN I FEEL LIKE I HAVE MY LIFE AND FAMILY ORGANISED. PANTRY STOCKED, FLOORS CLEAN, WASHING DRY, BILLS PAID, THE LIST CAN GO ON AND ON, THERE ARE ALWAYS THINGS TO BE DONE. BUT BEING ABLE TO TICK THESE CHORES OFF MY TO DO LIST REALLY DOES PUT A SPRING IN MY STEP.
BUT SOMETIMES THE LIST OF CHORES CAN FEEL OVERWHELMING, LIKE THERE ISN'T TIME IN THE DAY TO ALLOCATE TOWARDS WORKING ON YOUR TO DO LIST.
IRONING IS NEVER ENDING, THE MORE CLOTHES YOU WEAR, THE MORE WASHING THERE IS, THE MORE WASHING THERE IS, THE MORE IRONING THERE IS, IT IS THE NEVER ENDING CYCLE OF LAUNDRY.
